Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
CBT is an assessment course normally completed in a day and consists of 5 elements in both practical and theory sessions.
CBT Element A
An introduction to the aims of the course including a discussion about the importance of having the right equipment and clothing.
CBT Element B
Practical On site Training: – you will familiarise with the bikes controls and learn the basics as to how it works.
CBT Element C
Practical On Site Riding: – you are taught how to ride and control the bike on our large purpose built tarmac area.
CBT Element D
Theory On Site Training: – An interactive discussion which includes the importance of understanding the Highway Code, law, legislation and defensive, riding.
CBT Element E
Practical on road riding: -, You will be fitted with radio communication and taken out onto the road to complete the final part of the course. You will encounter roundabouts, junctions, pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, gradients, bends and obstructions.
On satisfactory completion, you will be issued with a DL196 (CBT) certificate, which is valid for 2 years.
Please Note
DVSA rules and regulations stipulate that NO ELEMENT of the CBT course can be started or concluded before the age of 16.
